What Are You Reading?

I am not just about gaming you know. I enjoy reading just as much if not more. I really like Sci-Fi but Fantasy Medieval Magic and Dragons always get me.This series here is my recent indulgence. It only took me 15 years to read Book 1! I got it when it was first released back in 1996 and had started reading it then and got about 3/4 of the way thru but never finished it for some reason or another. Could have been other books, real life who knows now but anyways I had started re-reading it last summer and start fresh from page 1 and, in fact, my bookmark was still in the book where I left off 15 years ago! I never finished last summer either only because of real life and being too busy and reading just fell by the way side once again. Then this happened.

I knew at once I had to both watch it and keep ahead in my book - luckily enough I still remembered where I had left off and had no need to start over again and in 3 days had polished off the remaining 380 pages. I immediately went right into Book 2 and am now 200 pages into Book 3. At close to 1000 pages each book it isn't light reading but I find myself totally entranced by the series and cannot put it down. I find myself reading a few pages every spare second I get now - whether waiting for the Bus for my oldest Boy or even taking a Coffee Break at work. The book is wonderfully written and has more Political Intrigue than I thought I would enjoy but thankfully the Adventure and Action keep things moving along. George RR Martin has really got himself a following with this book series and all because of a writers block 21 years ago! I just have to keep reading as you always want to know what is happening around the next page. I find his voice a wonderful departure from say the likes of Tad Williams, though I love his stuff just as much if not more, and he acknowledges it in interviews. Book 5 is finally being released July 12th of this year(gonna be my Father's Day/Birthday gift) and 2 more on the way and hopefully soon. Though I have waited 15 years to read it maybe I can wait a bit more!

What are you reading?
